Night Traffic
This photo was part of an experiment with some night photography. I took this photo in Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, on a bridge overlooking a road system near a place called Belem (some people might be familiar with Belem for a famous guard tower that was built there in the 16th Century, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site). A friend lent me his tripod (as I don’t have my own, however Christmas is on the way!) so I could get some practice with night photography. F-Stop: f/9 | Exposure:...

These cars really are ridiculously fast. Running on ‘racing alcohol’, a mixture of nitromethane and methanol (a highly explosive and energetic mixture) the cars can reach top speeds of well over 200 mph and 0-100 times in less than 1 second! This photo was taken at the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire, England. Notice the flames emitting from the exhaust as the racer takes off, and the rod at the back of the car; this is to prevent the car flipping over due to the...

This photo was taken on a bridge (Exhibition Road) overlooking the Serpentine. The ferris wheel in the background was part of the Winter Wonderland attraction in Hyde Park. This is one of my favourite photos as I love the warm colours created by the setting sun. Some minor colour correction in Photoshop CS and sharpness here. Winter is my favourite season because I love the colours of the trees and the spectacular skies this season creates. One of my favourite parts is the colour the trees go during Autumn/Winter, and this photo captures this for me. It’s nothing fancy, I just took it because of the vibrant oranges and browns and the calm, crisp sky in the background. This photo was taken at the Winter Wonderland attraction at Hyde Park, London. The ride took ages to get going because more and more people kept getting on! I used a slow shutter speed to blur the carriages of the ride as the sped round at a high speed. F-Stop: f/22 | Exposure: 0.6s | ISO Speed: 400 Click here to download this photo. Read MoreLaocoon & his Sons
This photo was taken in the Vatican Museums in Rome, Italy. From the website ancient-mythology.com: In Greek mythology, Laocoön was a Trojan priest of Apollo, or sometimes Poseidon. He was the son of Acoetes, the brother of Anchises and an uncle to Aeneas. When the Greek soldiers left Troy during the Trojan War, leaving behind their gift of a wooden horse, Laocoön sensed the danger. He objected to the Trojan’s willingness to bring the horse within Troy’s walls, suspecting that...
