Merry-go-round

Taken with my new lens! It’s a 50mm f1.4 USM, nicknamed ‘the nifty fifty’ as it’s pretty much great for all kinds of situations. I’ll upload a few more photos here soon with some more examples. Wide open the lens is quite soft but around f3.8 it’s crisp! Excellent depth of field too.  I took this in Brighton during the Easter bank holiday. F-Stop: f/4.5| Exposure: 1/4000s | ISO Speed: 400

Blossom

I took this photo in Hyde Park, London during a day off in March when the weather was unseasonally hot for that time of year, it was about 18′C in London that day! I post processed this image in Photoshop using a Curves adjustment layer for the Red, Green and Blue channels separately. Think it’s come out ok… F-Stop: f/11 | Exposure: 1/250s | ISO Speed: 400

Headlamp

A close up photo of the headlamps on my new car, Ford Fiesta Zetec S. Some slight tweaking in Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and shadow/highlights as well as saturation and sharpness. F-Stop: f/9 | Exposure: 1/200s | ISO Speed: 400

Top Fuel Dragster

These cars really are ridiculously fast. Running on ‘racing alcohol’, a mixture of nitromethane and methanol (a highly explosive and energetic mixture) the cars can reach top speeds of well over 200 mph and 0-100 times in less than 1 second! This photo was taken at the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire, England. Notice the flames emitting from the exhaust as the racer takes off, and the rod at the back of the car; this is to prevent the car flipping over due to the immense speed and acceleration. F-Stop: f/9 | Exposure: 1/60s | ISO Speed:...

Bumblebee on Blossom

A little experiment with some close-up photography, I don’t have a macro lens so it didn’t come out as well as I could have hoped for! Not much depth of field… F-Stop: f/5.6 | Exposure: 1/125s | ISO Speed: 400

Fields in Snow

Fields in Snow

I took this photo on a hill overlooking a field near Radar Hill, South Woodham Ferrers. This was back in December when there was a lot of snowfall across the country. Didn’t half fuck things up! However I thought I would make the most of it and get a nice snap of the fields. There’s even a pony on the left there! I did some minor Photoshop postwork such as adding a cooling photo filter and sharpness. F-Stop: f/9 | Exposure Time: 1/200s | ISO Speed: ISO...
