Top Fuel Dragster

These cars really are ridiculously fast. Running on ‘racing alcohol’, a mixture of nitromethane and methanol (a highly explosive and energetic mixture) the cars can reach top speeds of well over 200 mph and 0-100 times in less than 1 second! This photo was taken at the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire, England.

Notice the flames emitting from the exhaust as the racer takes off, and the rod at the back of the car; this is to prevent the car flipping over due to the immense speed and acceleration.
